No. It's been done tons o' times. But Murtagh the character himself is pretty well developed, as is Brom. They themselves and their stories are pretty original.

Murtagh is sort-of-ish original. But he's got Han Solo, Leia, and Darth Vader in him too.

Hi! I'm new here but I've read everything that has been posted on this thread. I believe that eveyrone has their own opinions and I respect that, but to critisize the guy just because there's a few similarities to another book? Seriously, I'm not saying any of you are wrong, but, correct me if I'm wrong, it seems like you're implying that just because the guy has a few COINCIDENCES in his book where a character relates to another book means that Paolini is a fraud. I'm sorry if I sound rude, I don't mean it to be that way, I'm just confused as to why you're critisizing the guy. B
